Joseph Castro

Joe grew up on Long Island playing Men’s and House Ice Hockey throughout Long Island. Joe graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a BA in Economics and graduated from Adelphi University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Joe coached 8 years of ice hockey house leagues before joining the Stony Brook University staff. Joe still resides on Long Island with his wife and 2 sons. He enjoys golfing, cooking, concerts, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys scouting for the D2 Ice Hockey team and talking to people, parents, coaches, and players about the incredible scholastic benefits of attending Stony Brook University and the fulfillment of playing Ice Hockey while attending Stony Brook University.

Michael Scancarello

Michael grew up on Long Island playing travel hockey throughout the Island. He was a member of the 2007 Freeport Arrows Team who finished in 2nd place in the New York State Championships. He also played 4 years of high school hockey at Saint Mary’s High School, and won the High School State Championship in 2007. He graduated from Sacred Heart University with a BA in History. While at Sacred Heart he played on their club ice hockey team. Before joining the Stony Brook University stadd, Michael coached for the Long Beach Lightning Organization. He still resides on Long Island with his wife and he enjoys golfing and spending time with family and friends.

Eddie Armellino

Eddie started playing Long Island Travel Hockey as a mite at 8 years old. His entire youth career was spent with the Freeport (Long Island) Arrows and went on to play for Chaminade High School and won 2 JV Championships. His travel career came to an end finishing runner-up at the 18U State Championship with Coach Mike Scancarello. After graduating high school, he went on to play 5 years of Club Hockey for the Loyola University Greyhounds and attended 2 national tournaments. Upon college graduation as a Materials Engineer, he went back to my roots and assisted Coach Ed with the Chaminade JV team, where they won 3 JV Championships together. Since that time, they have also coached the 16U Nassau County Lions and then 18U & 16U Long Beach Lightning of the Long Island Hockey League.

Ed Armellino

Ed has 30+ years of coaching experience starting with Oceanside Stallions Roller Hockey at 18 years old. He grew up playing Oceanside hockey and then went on to play for Chaminade High School. From there, he went on to play club hockey at Fordham, setting many records and becoming captain his junior and senior years. When his son was old enough, he got back into coaching with his youth travel team, the Freeport (Long Island) Arrows. In 2007, he began coaching Chaminade High School’s JV Ice Hockey team and went on to win 2 JV Championships. In 2012, Coach Eddie (his son) joined him and they went on to win 3 more JV Championships in 5 years. Since that time, they have also coached the 16U Nassau County Lions and then 18U & 16U Long Beach Lightning of the Long Island Hockey League.
